Meet the team
Samantha King - Physiotherapist
I completed my Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Newcastle in 2005, which marked the beginning of a lifelong passion for working with people in healthcare. In 2020, I founded True Balance Physio with a clear purpose: to provide effective, holistic, and genuinely meaningful care to the people in my community. What began as a simple idea has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of — a multidisciplinary team united by a shared vision and commitment to making a real difference in people’s lives.
As a physiotherapist I have worked in a variety of settings including large public hospitals, private practice, rehabilitation units, and community organisations. This has enabled me to gain diverse training and experience in traditional musculoskeletal, sports, and rehabilitative physiotherapy.
My desire to develop a deeper understanding of the body, mind, and human movement drew me to travel overseas and study beyond the world of conventional physiotherapy. I gained additional qualifications in Yoga Teaching, Clinical Pilates, Shiatsu, and Women’s Health.
The experience of pregnancy, childbirth and motherhood has influenced my ongoing commitment and interest in Women’s Health and Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy. My clinical practice is informed by the most current research and is delivered in a respectful and sensitive way.
Outside of work I endeavour to maintain balance in my own life. I spend my spare time on the yoga mat, in the outdoors, in the garden, playing music, studying, cooking, and enjoying time with my family.
Jurre Haarsma - Physiotherapist
My journey into physiotherapy began through a passion for movement and health. After several years of working as a personal trainer, I completed my Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2019 at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. Since then, I’ve gained valuable experience working across a variety of clinics, treating a wide range of clients and conditions.
I specialise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, sports rehabilitation, and joint-related conditions, with additional training in sports rehab, TriggerPoint therapy, and dry needling. More recently, I have expanded my expertise by working with people with disabilities, supporting them in achieving greater independence, mobility, and quality of life.
In 2025, my family and I made the exciting decision to emigrate to Australia, fulfilling a long-term dream. I’m looking forward to continuing my career here and supporting the community with personalised, evidence-based care.
Outside the clinic, I enjoy staying active, spending quality time with my family, and embracing everything Australia has to offer.
Alicia Scoble - Physiotherapist
I completed a Master of Physiotherapy from the University of Technology Sydney, following my earlier achievements—a Bachelor of Exercise Sport Science from the Australian Catholic University and a Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
I have a passion for Musculoskeletal, Sports and Women’s Health Physiotherapy. This is fueled by my elite dance background, developing a greater insight into the demands of high-level sport and what your body needs to excel in the industry. This has seen me work closely with Touch Football Australia, NSW Touch Football, and Softball NSW.
Throughout my career, my commitment to advancing my skills in the area of Women's Health has grown, motivated by seeing the profound impact that specialised care can have on women, as they navigate life’s unique challenges. I strive to help you achieve your treatment goals, through evidence-based care, education, and continuous support.
When I'm not in the clinic, I enjoy weight training at the gym, mountain bike riding, and going out for brunch on the weekend.
Kathy Balson - Exercise Physiologist
I completed my qualifications in Exercise Physiology in 2002 and have been working as an Exercise Physiologist for over 20 years. Since then, I’ve gone on to complete a Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology, a Graduate Diploma in Psychology, and more recently, a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Health Medicine through UNSW.
During my time as an EP, I have worked in a multitude of settings including private clinic, industry, hospital and mobile and community. I have worked in a range of different capacities including women’s health, disability and aged care.
Over the years, I’ve found myself consistently drawn to working with women. Even when supporting clients for different health concerns, I’ve often seen how women’s health plays a central role in their overall wellbeing — at every stage of life.
Now that I’m navigating the menopausal years myself, I have a deeper appreciation for the unique challenges and changes women experience in mid-life. This has further strengthened my passion for helping women improve their health, function, and quality of life during this important time. I also enjoy working with women at all stages, including adolescence, pregnancy and postpartum, and into older age.
I’ve lived in the Blue Mountains for over 20 years, where my two children were born and raised. I’m proud to be part of this vibrant community and feel privileged to support local women to feel strong, healthy, and confident in their bodies.
Bec Brown - Remedial Massage
Since obtaining my Diploma of Remedial Massage 25 years ago, I have gained extensive experience in a variety of settings, from massage clinics to high-end luxury spas. Over the years, I’ve continued to expand my skills, learning additional styles such as Volcanic Stone Massage and Lomi Lomi. I’ve since blended these techniques into my own unique approach—where Remedial Massage meets deep, restorative rest. My intention is to help people reconnect with their bodies by thoughtfully combining these modalities. When someone takes time out from the hustle and bustle to receive a treatment with me, my hope is that they truly pause, restore, and realign with themselves.
My love of bodywork has been weaved into my travels from visiting hammam’s in Turkey, saunas in Norway, to onsens in Japan. Closer to home I am constantly on the lookout for my next treatment as I believe deeply in the benefits of massage.
Away from the massage table, I love being around people—whether it's feeding a group of friends around the dinner table, having a hit of tennis with a team, or camping with my partner and kids. Oh, and there must be coffee!
Jodi Neville - Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer
I’ve been working in the fitness industry for over eight years, with experience across both personal training and group fitness, supporting people of all ages and abilities. My passion for movement and wellbeing naturally led me to discover Pilates — and I haven’t looked back since.
Pilates had a profound impact on my own health and strength, especially throughout my pregnancy and postnatal recovery. That experience has deeply shaped the way I teach. I understand firsthand how important it is to feel supported, capable, and connected to your body during times of change and I love helping others experience that for themselves.
I’m especially passionate about working with women through pregnancy, postpartum and into the many stages beyond. Whether it’s regaining core strength, improving posture, or simply feeling confident in movement again, I aim to create a space where women feel empowered and encouraged every step of the way. It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of someone’s journey and to support them through such a meaningful time in their life.
When I’m not in the studio, you’ll usually find me outdoors — camping with my family and friends, exploring new places, or out walking the dog. Movement is a big part of my life, both at work and at home, and I feel lucky to be able to share that passion with others every day.
Sarah Filewood - Pilates Instructor
My initial Pilates training was completed at the University of Technology Sydney in 2004. The profound impact it had on my own body and mind inspired me to dive deeper, and in 2007 I became a certified Studio and Mat Practitioner with Polestar Pilates International.
Witnessing how inclusive and adaptable the Pilates Method is for people of all ages and abilities led me to further study. I completed a Cert IV in Pilates Instruction with Pilates International in 2008, followed by a Cert III in Fitness in 2010 as the method expanded into the wider fitness world.
My curiosity about human movement drew me to practices like Iyengar yoga, the Alexander Technique and the Feldenkrais Method—all of which continue to influence how I teach and support others in their movement journey.
Pilates became especially meaningful during my two pregnancies. It gave me something I could trust and return to and supported a natural recovery after childbirth. I went on to train with the Center for Women’s Fitness in the USA and became a certified pre- and post-natal instructor.
I teach Contemporary Pilates that’s adaptable, inclusive and centred around the whole person. My work is informed by current research into healthy ageing, functional fitness and falls prevention. I’ve also undertaken further training in Parkinson’s, dementia and osteoporosis.
Outside the studio, I enjoy yoga, tai chi, jiu jitsu, music, theatre, anthropology —and love spending time with my husband, children, and our six lively pets!
